(formerly “Rick and Judy”)
For the past 15 years, Relative Harmony has been an acoustic trio comprised of Rick Avery (vocals, keyboards, guitar and banjo); Judy Greenhill and Jonathan Avery (vocals, violin and percussion). Our daughter Katie Avery (vocals, violin, cello, guitar) would join us on occasion when she was back in Southern Ontario. Currently, she resides in Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories, where she performs with local bands and teaches Suzuki Violin.
On May 1st, 2017, Jonathan will take up permanent residence in the USA. He will be unable to return to Canada for at least 2 years. As a result, Relative Harmony is on hiatus. Judy will continue to call dances and we will hire session fiddlers as required for dances. Rick Avery and Judy Greenhill are available for concerts as a duo.
We perform a variety of British and North American folk music, a sampling of which is listed on the CDs we’ve released. Our most recent recording, “Rolling Home”, features all four of us singing and playing a wide range of folk songs and tunes. It is sure to keep you on your toes with a strong, steady back-beat and energetic fiddling.
We have performed all over Ontario (including Ottawa, Owen Sound, Toronto & Hamilton) and in the U.S.; and at a plethora of school, community, camp and wedding dances.
